Will Ferrell

Funnyman Will Ferrell lends his lungs to Dreamworks’ “Megamind”, telling Ashley Hillard that he hopes Lithuanian’s aren’t too offended by his dodgy accent in it.

“Megamind” is the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known. And the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as “Metro Man,” an invincible hero until the day Megamind actually kills him in the throes of one of his botched evil plans. Suddenly, Megamind has no purpose. A supervillain without a superhero. He realizes that achieving his life’s ambition is the worst thing that ever happened to him. Megamind decides that the only way out of his rut is to create a new hero opponent called “Titan,” who promises to be bigger, better and stronger than Metro Man ever was. Pretty quickly Titan starts to think it’s much more fun to be a villain than a good guy. Except Titan doesn’t just want to rule the world, he wants to destroy it. Now, Megamind must decide: can he defeat his own diabolical creation? Can the world’s smartest man make the smart decision for once? Can the evil genius become the unlikely hero of his own story?

How was it not only leading this movie… but speaking with a British accent in it!?

Well, let’s see. I don’t really consider myself front and center of this fine cast. Well… hmmm…I guess I am. I really haven’t done a lot of this stuff before. I love this premise, I felt it was so original. To get to be in a film with this cast is the most exciting part.

I’m actually doing a Lithuanian accent. It just shows how bad of a mimic I am. But, no…it’s just the accent of someone who thinks they’re important. I’ve been working with Tom and we landed on that and thought it would be appropriate for this guy. When it comes down to it he’s just completely insecure.

In the real world, do you have a Nemesis?

My nemesis prior to this working experience oddly enough was David Cross, but through this process we were able to hash that out.

Did you do this movie for your kids?

This was just a decision based on wanting to try to do another animated movie and getting a chance to work with Tom and Dreamworks – my children were not consulted. Nor are they ever consulted about anything. It’s a very strict household! But they’ve seen some of the advertisements and trailers and I think they’re intrigued by the fact that I do the voice of this guy with the blue head.

You’re famous. Any chance you’ll retreat to obscurity eventually?

I don’t really think about those things.
