Die Hard IMAX announcement, new poster, and featurette

At least the next “Die Hard” was one thing going for it that the previous instalment in the long-running series didn’t – it’ll be screened in the IMAX format.

20th Century Fox and IMAX announced today that “A Good Day to Die Hard”, opening in February in the states, will screen in IMAX theatres as well as standard multiplexes.

With action films like “Misson : Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and “Skyfall” doing well for IMAX, and also giving audiences that something extra special as a result, it’s a welcome surprise to have a “Die Hard” film projected on one of those big screens.

“The exhilarating action sequences that are the hallmark of the Die Hard franchise, as well as its global setting, make it a perfect fit for The IMAX Experience®,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to partner again with the great team at Fox and for audiences worldwide to experience this franchise in IMAX for the first time.”

The IMAX release of ”A Good Day to Die Hard” will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

And speaking of “A Good Day to Die Hard”, there’s a new poster (below, courtesy EW) and featurette – fixing on Bruce Willis’s on-screen son, played by Jai Courtney – online.
