Coach reboot no longer happening

NBC has cancelled it’s “Coach” reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series, which would’ve featured Craig T.Nelson in his signature role of Hayden Fox, would’ve seen the beleaguered football coach retired but called back to the field when he becomes assistant coach to his now grown son, who is the head coach of an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania that’s putting a new team together.

Barry Kemp, who created the original ABC series (which ran for 9 seasons and nearly 200 episodes), was attached to write and executive produce the follow-up for NBC.

Andrew Ridings had been cast as as Hayden Fox’s son, while original star Bill Fagerbakke was set to reprise his role as Michael “Dauber” Dybinski.

The network, who apparently never felt truly confident about the reboot, wasn’t liking what they’d seen so far.
