Mark Romanek in front to helm The Lost Symbol

Mark Romanek is looking likely to be the man directing the third Dan Movie about protagonist Robert Langdon, “The Lost Symbol”

The first two, “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” raked in more than $1 billion combined at the box office, and Ron Howard has opted out of directing the third.

Romanek is famous for directing a stack of music videos, and a couple of feature films; most notably “One Hour Photo” and the critically acclaimed “Never Let Me Go”, starring Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan.

Tom Hanks is expected to reprise his role as protagonist Robert Langdon for “The Lost Symbol”.

Deadline says Romanek is not quite a done deal yet, but will go into negotiations shortly.

What do you think- is it a big risk giving “The Lost Symbol” to Romanek, given it’s his first major budget film?
