A Bonus Divergent sequel for every customer!

Following what seems to be becoming the latest craze in the dystopian, teenage fiction genre, Lionsgate announced that the third “Divergent” instalment will be release in two parts.

“Allegiant” will be released as two films, Parts 1 and 2 due to hit cinemas in March 18, 2016 and March 24, 2017 respectively.

This will bring the total to four films based on Veronica Roth’s best selling trilogy, with the second instalment, “Insurgent”, due for release on March 20, 2015.

No doubt encouraged by the $117 million made at the domestic box office in “Divergent’s” first three weeks of release, “Allegiant” will follow in the footsteps of the final “Hunger Games” film, the final “Twilight” film and the final “Harry Potter” film.

“Veronica Roth brings her captivating story to a masterful conclusion in Allegiant, a rich, action-packed book with material that is ideally suited to two strong and fulfilling movies,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. “The storytelling arc and world of the characters lend themselves perfectly to two films, a storytelling strategy that has worked very well for us on the two Twilight Breaking Dawn films and about which we’re tremendously enthusiastic for the two upcoming Mockingjayfilms of The Hunger Games franchise.”

“Divergent” is currently screening in cinemas and production will get underway on “Insurgent” next month.
