A Pre-Xmas peek inside the Casting Office

‘Twas the night before Christmas, not a peep in the house….but inside the casting office there’s a fax hidden under some Tinsel. On it, a list of recently signed film contracts – – – here comes your Pre-Xmas Casting Whatever-you-Call-It Update.

Kevin Howarth, the star of international Indie hit "The Last Horror Movie" has expressed keen interest in coming on board spy thriller "Daisy Scarlett". It is uncertain what kind of role he would take on in the $30m movie, which is due to start lensing in August 2005. We’ve learnt that three Directors are presently in talks with Producers, one of whom is Joe Carnahan,
formerly of ‘Mission: Impossible 3’ fame.

Doesn’t sound like Geoffrey Rush is involved in the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel, but if there’s a third one, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer says he’d like the Aussie thespian to be in it. "That’s if there is a third one," Bruckheimer tells MTV. "We’re hoping to start shooting [the second and third movies] in March, but we’re waiting for a very big check from Disney." Keith Richards has yet to sign as Johnny Depp’s characters father too.

IESB has recieved confirmation that Mark Hamill is indeed set to be involved in a new "Star Wars" TV Series. A scooper tells the site that Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker for the new weekly series, only he’ll be older, teaching younger jedi-wannabes how to jiggle their lit-up wands. Kevin Smith is the frontrunner to direct.

He’s keeping mum, but apparently Warner are pretty keen to get George Clooney to round up his mates for another "Oceans" jaunt. Meantime, he tells The London Free Press Today that "The only reason we did Ocean’s Twelve is that Steven said he had a great idea and (producer) Jerry Weintraub was willing to put it together again. These movies are great fun for the cast. For Jerry and Steven they’re a lot of work." Expect "Ocean’s Thirteen" to be announced sometime after Santa slips down the chim.

Burt ‘Bandit’ Reynolds is heading on over to "The King of Queens". The iconic star of 70’s cinema will play Doug’s highschool football coach, says TV Guide. Kevin James invited the "Without a Paddle" star to appear on the show after the two became fast friends working on the big-screen comedy "Grilled". The episode airs during Feb sweeps.

According to IGN FilmForce, Harvey Keitel has been offered the role of Eddie Mannix, the allegedly corrupt MGM studio boss, in Focus Features’ planned biopic of the late ‘Superman’ star George Reeves "Truth, Justice and the American Way". The film starts shooting in April, with Adrien Brody co-starring as Lamar Moglio, the fictionalized detective hired by Reeves’ mother to investigate her son’s curious suicide.

"Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events" has made more money than Trump charges for a nightly stay in his guesthouse, so it’s no surprise to hear that the studio wants Jim Carrey and the cast to sign on for a sequel. Melbourne’s Emily Browning has also been asked back. Better get going on that follow-up pretty soon, that gal’s growing rapidly overnight.

"National Treasure" babe Diane Kruger has signed to star in "Joyeux Noël" ("Merry Christmas"), she tells MTV. "It’s a WWI piece about the truce on Christmas Eve," she explained. "They put down their weapons, buried their dead and played [soccer] in no man’s land. It’s a really famous story."
