A Waltz always leads to Swinging; Basterd may join Tarzan

Christoph Waltz is brushing up on his snarl, preparing to take on the role of a rogue in Warner’s “Tarzan”, according to Variety.
And while the “Inglourious Bastards” thesp polishes his tongue in an effort to snag Oscar 2015, two young hot patooties are keen to be the Jane to the titular Monkey-man. Australia’s Margot Robbie, the “Neighbours” escapee who has since gone on to share the screen (and other things) with Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Wolf of Wall Street”, and “Amazing Spider-Man” spice Emma Stone are said to be vying for the part of the prim n’proper commoner who falls for the tree-swinger.
Waltz’s character is said to be that of a miliary man who clashes with the chest-thumping hero, played by “True Blood’ fave Alexander Skarsgaard.
Should the deal come together, the film might serve as a bit of a mini “Basterds” reunion, with Samuel L.Jackson previously said to be in talks to play a mate of Tarzan’s.
The film is being directed by seasoned blockbuster pro David ‘Harry Potter’ Yates, which is a vote of confidence for the flick, but the fact the script’s passed about 20 hands since it was first commissioned – with everyone from John August to Adam Cozard working on it – suggests we’re more likely to see this thing lauded with accolades by way of the MTV Movie Awards than the Oscars.
