Adam McKay, hot from his success with last year’s topical award-worthy dramedy “The Big Short”, is set to direct a film about Vice President Dick Cheney for Paramount.
McKay – who we all remember got his start doing infantile comedies with the likes of Will Ferrell – has already completed the screenplay and will send it out to potential Cheney-players soon.
The film would shoot in the spring for a release late next year.
Amongst the film’s producers, Brad Pitt and Will Ferrell. No word on whether those dudes might appear in the movie too, but it’s possible – particularly in the case of Pitt, who had a small but memorable role in “The Big Short”.
“I’ve always found Cheney fascinating,” McKay told Deadline. “Questions of what drove him, what his beliefs were; but once we started digging I was astounded at how much he had shaped modern America’s place in the world and how shocking the methods were by which he gained his power.”
