American Sniper sets Super Bowl Weekend Record

It seems Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” can do no wrong, at the box office at least.

Now at a total of nearly $250 million, the film set a new Super Bowl weekend record picking up $31.8 million.

Its predecessor – the “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour” – was bumped from the record holding spot having previously made $31.2 million in 2008.

Now “American Sniper” will chase “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1″ which currently holds the top spot for the highest grosser of 2014, earning $335.1 million.

Eastwood’s box office smash stars Bradley Cooper as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. The biopic follows legendary sniper Kyle at war and at home as he struggles to leave the battle behind.
