Turns out “Game of Thrones” fans are quite happy to pay to see their beloved show on the big screen.

HBO released its hit show in IMAX over the weekend and box office results show the Warner Bros. presentation raked in $1.5 million.

Two episodes were shown on the big screen, the last two eps of season four, along with a season five teaser. Of course this footage had to be digitally remastered to fit the IMAX format.

“Game of Thrones” becomes the first television series to be shown on the big screen likely paving the way for future experiments.
