An ol’ mate scores a role in Eastwood’s newie!

I’m always stoked when good things happen for good actors, but I’m especially over the moon when an actor that’s also an old friend snags a gold ribbon. Such as the case today with Aussie boy Damon Herriman, the star of “Love My Way” and more recently, “Justified”, whom I’ve known for little over a decade now. In that time I’ve watched Damon go from talented bit player in a slew of local productions (in films like “Candy” with Heath Ledger) to a force to be reckoned with in some terrific stateside material (FX’s “Justified”, “Redbelt”).
But here’s Herriman’s big one : Clint Eastwood’s “J.Edgar”. It’s like watching a newly-planted rosebush blossom…. and all that jizz…
The Playlist says, “Herriman has been cast as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby. His conviction later came into question however, with police accused of doctoring evidence as well as ignoring and intimidating witnesses. The questions raised prompted Hoover to launch an FBI inquiry into the handling of the case.”
Herriman tells us via email that he’s “very excited” and he doesn’t “know a lot right now, other than who I’m playing and that I shoot for three weeks in LA and Washington DC.”
“J.Edgar”, a biopic of FBI founder J.Edgar Hoover, stars Leonardo Di Caprio (as Hoover), Armie Hammer and – likely; though she’s yet to accept the offer they’ve got out to her – Charlize Theron.
Well done, mate!
