Obviously Sony are going to do more “Ghostbusters” films after next year’s reboot – directed by Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy- but most expected the first of the new follow-ups to be either that Channing Tatum/Russo Bros’ “Ghostbusters” spin-off film or one featuring the original cast. Seems it won’t be either.
According to Variety, an animated “Ghostbusters” film is in the works at Sony. Ivan Reitman will produce the film va his Montecito Picture Company with SPA president Kristine Belson and Michael Lachance overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
While no plot details have been revealed, and it’s obviously early days, it’s speculated that the animated film might feature the original Ghostbusters, with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson lending their voices to the project.
