Another solid Aussie actor joins Mel Gibson’s WWII movie

Luke Bracey, star of the upcoming “Point Break”, is returning to his native Australia for Mel Gibson’s World War II drama “Hacksaw Ridge,” starring Andrew Garfield, says Variety.

The movie, based on the life of Desmond T. Doss, a medic and the first conscientious objector, also stars Sam Worthington and Vince Vaughn.

The film, which Gibson is directing from a script by Robert Schenkkan and “We Were Soldiers” screenwriter Randall Wallace, begins filming next month.

Bracey, who also appeared in “The Best of Me”, will portray Smitty, the main antagonist and one of the leaders of Doss’ platoon.
