Anthony Hopkins’ meaty new role

Joining the cast of “The Wolfman” remake?

Anthony Hopkins is about to take a bite out of James Hampton’s book – or at least he will be if he accepts his latest juicy (as in ‘calf meat’) role.

The actor’s set to gnaw on human flesh again as the star of “The Wolfman”, a remake of the classic Universal pic, starring the Shaggy Dog himself, Benicio Del Toro.

Hannibal Lecter’s maker tells Rotten Tomatoes that it’s not a done deal yet, but he is talking to the producers about the part – and the meat they’re dangling in front of him does smell damn good.

He’d play the father of the titular werewolf – assumingly someone with a thirst for blood and bone milkshakes himself.

“There’s also a chance I may play the Wolfman in London in a movie with Benicio Del Toro,” said Hopkins. “My agent says it’s a great script but he hasn’t sent it to me yet.”

“He [my agent] said he just wants to make sure that the deal is all in but I play the Wolfman’s father in Paris. A wonderful part.”

The “Silence of the Lambs” star says he barks between scenes anyone, so it makes sense he’d play fangface senior.

“Yeah, I bark. Yeah, it’s just for fun, just to keep everyone happy because it gets pretty intense sometimes. People get too serious. It’s only a movie. It’s not the end of the world. So I bark like a dog just to entertain people. People say, ‘What’s that? There’s a dog in here.'””

The tail’s a dead giveaway, too.
