It’s definitely a good day if you’re an “Arrested Development” fan! After years of fans wondering “will it happen or will it not?” and being teased, it seems it will happen because during Sunday’s New Yorker Festival, series creator Mitch Hurtwiz announced that he wants to bring Arrested back to television for a brief mini-season prior to the show hitting the big screen.
According to TVLine, Hurwitz’s goal is to produce another nine or 10 episodes, but there’s a twist: Each installment would focus on a different Bluth.
And Jason Bateman took to his Twitter account today to confirm the news by tweeting the following:
It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!
“Arrested Development” ran from 2003-2006 before being cancelled after three seasons. No word yet on whether FOX will air the 10 seasons.
If FOX doesn’t pick it up, they can always air the new season on IFC, which seems to air plenty of the old seasons whenever possible. Bust out the AD marathons!
“Arrested Development” starred Jason Bateman, Portia Rossi, Michael Cera, David Cross, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jeffrey Tambor, Alia Shawkat, Ron Howard and centered on the life of level-headed son Michael Bluth (Bateman) who takes over family affairs after his father (Tambor) is imprisoned. But the rest of his spoiled, dysfunctional family are making his job unbearable.
