Bad Boys TV show a go – with one of the stars of the films!

The “Bad Boys” film franchise might be on pause but no so much the overall brand.

NBC has greenlit a pilot featuring Gabrielle Union’s “Bad Boys II” character DEA agent Syd Burnett. The untitled spin-off fixes on Burnett’s new life as an LAPD detective. Just as Martin Lawrence is to Will Smith in the film, Burnett’s partner will be her polar opposite – a working mom who is envious of Syd’s freedom.

Union will executive produce alongside Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, who will pen. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone, and Doug Belgrad will also executive produce.

As for that long-gestating third “Bad Boys” movie, “Bad Boys For Life”, Sony Pictures has put the idea back on the shelves for the moment.
