Barbra Streisand in a film from the producer of Lethal Weapon!?

Look out Bette, Babs has ya’ number.

Barbra Streisand, currently slumming it as part of the all-star tip “Little Fockers”, is in talks with Warner Bros to star in a a new film adaptation of the 1959 Broadway play “Gypsy” (Bette Midler starred in a reasonable 1993 adaptation).

Amusingly enough, action movie vet Joel Silver (“Lethal Weapon”, “The Matrix”, “Exit Wounds”) is onboard as a producer.

The Hollywood Reporter says the flick isn’t a sure thing… yet.

“Talks with Streisand are far from the deal-making stage. The icon has met with the play’s lyrics writer, Stephen Sondheim, and book writer, Arthur Laurents, to discuss her role in the new movie, sources inside the actress’ camp confirmed.”

Streisand would play Rose. No word on who would play burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee yet, but with Silver producing it’s possible Keanu Reeves is already in the mix.
