Regardless of how much of a turd her first foray on the big screen was, and despite the fact that a horde of purists whined about her chubbier frame at the time, I still bat for the ‘Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl’ team. Yep, "Batman and Robin" was a barker and a half, but Silverstone filled those leathers nicely, I thought, and I thought Papa Joel cast the part reasonably well. Of course anyone that knows me knows I’ve just got a Woody Woodpeck for Mrs Silverstone 24-7, so don’t put too much stock into my opinion.
Whatever the case, I’m pretty confident that producers won’t be looking to the "Clueless" babe for their rumoured "Batgirl" cartoon spin-off. They’ll have some other fresh chicken voice the superheroine, I reckon.
The Animation Forum is reporting that a possible "Batgirl" cartoon series is in the works, streaming from network beliefs that the gal in the garb would be able to snag quite a following.
And how long do you think it will all be until the Winged Woman makes her re-appearance on the cinema screen? I’m betting quite a few years yet – but dare say, Babs will make her Bat-comeback at some stage.
