Batman vs. Superman movie back on!?

Warners has been talking about doing a Batman/Superman two-hander for years – and at one stage even got close to doing one (“World’s Finest” with Wolfgang Peterson attached to direct), but for the most sensible of reasons the brass ultimately decided to postpone the superhero team-up idea.
Realizing there was potentially more money to be made – and a safer way to please comic book movie fans – Warners opted instead to reboot the ‘Batman’ and ‘Superman’ franchises, respectively. Christopher Nolan breathed new life into the dormant ‘Batman’ series with his “Batman Begins” (and later, “The Dark Knight”) while Bryan Singer took charge on the ‘Superman’ reboot, “Superman Returns”.

And at the back of the brother’s Warners mind, all along, was this idea to one day team up these new big-screen heroes – as played by Christian Bale (Batman) and Brandon Routh (Superman), regardless of whether either actor thought it was a good idea.
Back in March, Warner’s Jeff Robinov mentioned that he was now looking at teaming up not only Batman and Superman but The Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter et al for a “Justice League” movie.

And now, there’s word that Batman and Superman may be getting their long overdue team-up too (and again, with the current actors headlining the Superman and Batman films).

Think McFly Think reports :

In a classic case of covering your ass, what we’re hearing is two separate incarnations are being tooled. One version where the World’s Greatest Detective is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa. Essentially, they’re hoping they can woo Christian Bale back into the cape-and-cowl for a fourth time and in case the Oscar-winner tells them, “No thanks, I’m done!”, they’ll go for a new actor altogether. Both versions would feature Henry Cavill’s Last Son of Krypton.

I dunno.. is this a good idea? Can you see it actually happening – particuarly with Bale? and if Cavill reprises Superman but Routh opts not to reprise Batman… will it be odd? Or do they just go and hire one of the original runners-up – say, Josh Jackson? – to step into the batmobile?
