Director James Dodson was smart enough to know his film had to have a completely different storyline to the Owen Wilson/Gene Hackman film, but for some reason was unable to (or afraid to – since it’s his first major film) give the film his stamp rather than director John Moore’s by unleashing an unremitting series of annoying cuts, sped-up shots and other wacky editing techniques. Moore showed a lot more restraint too, seems his precursor’s intent not to let the camera lay dormant and simply film what’s going on in front of it for any longer than ten seconds.

Pity, because his script isn’t half-bad for a cheapish direct-to-video sequel.

In it, four soldiers (led by Nicholas Gonzalez – the pool boy Marisa snagged on “The OC”) find themselves inadvertently ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ in Korea. While they’re there, they decide to help the President (Peter Coyote) complete a mission: take out a missile site so the country can’t launch their Nukes.

Whilst nothing to brag about, the film features some interesting characters, has a few good moments and some pretty nicely choreographed action sequences. Just a pity director Dodson couldn’t keep his finger off the ‘video effects’ button in the editing room.
