It sounds like a giggle-crack Kevin Smith might’ve made about Affleck in one of his movies, or Trey Parker and Matt Stone in one of theirs, but alas, ’tis true : Ben Affleck is in talks to play Tom Buchanan (the role Bruce Dern played in the 1974 film) in Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby”, according to Deadline.
Affleck – who I, personally, think is quite a fab actor; go back and watch “Good Will Hunting” again – would join a stellar cast that includes Leonardo Di Caprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan.
It’d be great to see Cuba Gooding Jr cast in a small role – if only to give Parker and Stone even more of a reason to write another of their satirical rib-tracks.
