Ben-Hur as a miniseries?

David Wyler seems to think it’s a good idea

Adam Frazier here,

Just days after the passing of Charlton Heston, news has hit that “Ben-Hur,” the film for which Heston won the best actor Oscar, is going to be remade by David Wyler.

If the name David Wyler doesn’t sound familiar, perhaps you’ve heard of his father William Wyler. William Wyler directed the 1959 Oscar-winning feature film, and now his son is set to follow in his footsteps – or completely tarnish his good name, the verdict is still out.

According to Variety, David Wyler is developing a miniseries in association with Alchemy TV. Alchemy has already sold the miniseries to multiple countries and Wyler is in negotiations with cable networks for the U.S. rights.

As the article goes on to mention, the new version will be based more closely on the 1880 Lew Wallace novel than either the film adaptations.
