On this 20th anniversary of his “Fifth Element”, Europacorp chief Luc Besson has cast Ben ‘never will escape Gandhi’ Kingsley in his next sweat-inducing thriller.
“Underground, which will be sold (well, they hope right!?) at next week’s Cannes film festival, revolves around two detectives investigating a wave of missing persons cases in New York City. Their search leads them deep beneath the streets into the city’s underground, where they discover a secret that should never see the light of day.
Peter Franzen and Carly Chaikin are also aboard the film, which Pal Olie will direct. Besson came up with the idea, and will produce, but largely gets paid for doing nothing on this one. Nice work if you can get it.
