Better Off Single finds a home with Gravitas Ventures

Gravitas Ventures has secured all worldwide rights to “Better Off Single,” a New York City dating comedy that follows one man’s hallucination-fueled, post-breakup quest to find new love… and himself. The new film from Red Square Pictures and Writer/Director Benjamin Cox stars Aaron Tveit (“BrainDead”), Abby Elliott (“Odd Mom Out”), Lauren Miller Rogen (“For a Good Time Call…”), Kal Penn (“Deadbeat”), Chris Elliott (“Schitt’s Creek”), Lewis Black (“Inside Out”), Shane McRae (“Still Alice”), Kelen Coleman (“The Newsroom”) and Annaleigh Ashford (“Masters of Sex”).

When Charlie Carroll (Tveit) quits his job and his girlfriend (Elliott) on the same day, it seems as though he’s finally found freedom. But after a quick dip in the dark waters of the NYC dating pool, Charlie begins to wonder if he’s made a mistake. He’s not equipped for single life. In fact, Charlie might not be equipped for life in general. With no job and no love, Charlie is forced to go on a journey of self-discovery so intense that he begins to suffer from surreal hallucinations, flashbacks, and fantasies. Will he find “the one?” Or did that ship already sail, taking with it his only hopes for relationship sanity?

“We set out to make a smart, funny movie – one that would only be possible by the means of talented collaborators on both sides of the camera,” said Director Benjamin Cox. “We’re thrilled to extend that collaboration to include Gravitas. We can’t wait for audiences to get a look.”

“‘Better Off Single’s’ satirical riff on the stereotypical New York indie romantic-comedy is going to resonate with anyone who’s ever looked for love and we look forward to bringing this funny and charming film to a diverse, global audience,” said Dan Fisher, Sr. Director of Acquisitions for Gravitas Ventures.
“Better Off Single” is the first feature film from Benjamin Cox who served on the project as Director, Writer and Producer. Tracey Becker (“Finding Neverland”) was also a Producer. Executive Producers included Russell Carpenter, Nadav Besner, Eitan Melamed, Erica Leone, Reza Taleghani, Elisa Pugliese, Kim Winther, Red Sanders and Tom Cappuso.

The deal was negotiated by Dan Fisher for Gravitas and by Benjamin Cox of Red Square Pictures, Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films and Christopher Howland of American Entertainment Investors on behalf of the filmmakers.
