Bill Pullman bringing the Schwartz to Torchwood

Bill Pullman. Gotta love that guy. From “Spaceballs” to “A League Of Their Own” to “Zero Effect” (not to mention one of Clint’s faves, “Lost Highway”), the man always delivers. He’s one of a few solid go-to ‘Bill’s – the others being Paxton and Sadler – this industry has… and needs.

News from Deadline is that Pullman, who most younger viewers probably know as the President in “Independence Day”, is joining the cast of “Doctor Who” spin-off “Torchwood”.

Pullman joins John Barrowman, Eva Myles and the just-cast Mekhi Phifer for the show’s fourth season.

The actor, says the site, will play “Oswald Jones, a dangerously clever convicted murderer who escapes his lifelong prison sentence on a technicality and quickly becomes a media sensation. Genuinely repentant yet boiling with lust and rage, Oswald gets caught up in a terrifying worldwide crisis.”
