Birdman helmer swings into Jungle Book

Alexander Gonzalez Inarritu, currently resurrecting Michael Keaton’s career as a leading man with the curious-sounding “Birdman”, is in early talks to bring Mowgli back to the screen.

Deadline tells us Warner Bros is courting the filmmaker to direct the latest film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”.

This is the second high-profile version of “The Jungle Book” to go into development in recent times, with Disney recently securing Jon Favreau for their upcoming incarnation.

Callie Kloves wrote the screenplay for the Warner version. Her father, “Harry Potter” alum Steve Clove is producing.
