The title of the Blade Runner sequel has been revealed!

One year out from the film’s release, Warner Bros and Alcon Entertainment have revealed the title of the “Blade Runner” sequel.

Titled “Blade Runner 2049”, the film is directed by Denis Villeneuve and will hit cinemas on Octobr 6, 2017.

Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James, Jared Leto and Dave Bautista are set to star.

The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original (dare we say in the year 2049?!), with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details are not being revealed.

Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will produce along with Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Bud Yorkin will receive producer credit. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Ridley Scott and Bill Carraro will also executive produce.
