Bradley Cooper to make directorial debut on A Star is Born remake

Bradley Cooper is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to take the helm of the studio’s “A Star is Born” remake.

Deadline brings the news, also reporting that Cooper may be in line to star.

Assuming they lock away Cooper, Warner Bros. will likely then approach Beyonce who was previously in line to star – back when Clint Eastwood was attached to direct the remake.

Cooper is set to rewrite the current draft of the script with Will Fetters. He will also produce with Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk.

This film will be the fourth adaptation of “A Star is Born”. The original was made in 1937 by director William A. Wellman with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March starring. In 1954, the Judy Garland and James Mason starer was released followed by a 1976 version with leads Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
