Breaking Bits : Parsons says goodbye, Frozen 2 writer, Bond update, Little Mermaid casting & more!

Allison Schroeder (“Hidden Figures”) is writing “Frozen 2” for Disney.

Jennifer Lee wrote the initial draft of the film, but after she was chosen to be the new head of Walt Disney Animation Studios her hours available to write have obviously been severely cut back – as such Schroeder, who worked with Disney on “Christopher Robin”, has been brought in to assist.

“Frozen 2”, which is currently in production with Lee set to direct, will again star Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad, who voiced Anna, Elsa and Olaf the Snowman, respectively. Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K.Brown were recently reported to be in talks.

As reported yesterday, “The Big Bang Theory” is ending – and seems it’s due to star Jim Parsons, who opted not to renew his contract for a 13th season.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the popular actor wrote :

Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are set to return to the Ryan Murphy-produced “American Horror Story” for the upcoming eighth season ‘Apocalypse’.

Danny Boyle left Bond 25 this week – but why? According to The Telegraph, the “Trainspotting” helmer wanted to use Polish actor Tomasz Kot as the film’s villain, while producers were hellbent on having the film’s rogue be Russian. The film, despite needing a new director, is still on schedule for 2019.

Zendaya (“The Greatest Showman”) is said to have been offered the lead role of Ariel in the live-action take on Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” per ThatHashtagShow.

Despite previous reports that “The Predator” would be PG-13, the MPAA has officially slapped the film with an R-rating for “strong bloody violence, language throughout, and crude sexual references.”

The Hollywood Reporter has obtained casting breakdowns for “Top Gun : Maverick” – and they’re out of this… era!

“Rocketman”, the Elton John biopic starring Taron Egerton, is moving from Summer 2019.

ABC has greenlit a reworking of “Bewitched” from “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris. “In Bewitched, written by Barris and Taylor, Samantha, a hardworking black single mom who happens to be a witch, marries Darren, a white mortal who happens to be a bit of a slacker. They struggle to navigate their differences as she discovers that even when a black girl is literally magic, she’s still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America.”
