Captain America : The Winter Soldier cast revealed; first image

Marvel have opened up their usually tightly-closed wallets, shelling out the biccies for quite a few famous faces to join Chris Evans on the upcoming “Captain America” sequel.
In a presser containing the first new image from “Captain America : The Winter Soldier” (which, I’m sad to say, doesn’t feature Captain America battling a Melbourne winter with a bowl of soup and scarf), Marvel’s announced the supporting cast for its superhero sequel. Scarlett Johansson will reprise her ‘Black Widow’ role (from “Iron Man 2” and “The Avengers”), Samuel L.Jackson’s back as Nick Fury, and “Avengers”‘ resident leather-spruiking hottie (OK, there were a couple in there) Cobie Smulders is back as Maria Hill.
Robert Redford, recently announced as playing some sort of senior S.H.I.E.L.D boss-type, is playing Agent Alexander Pierce.
Sebastian Stan is playing Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie is Sam Wilson/Falcon, Frank Grillo is Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre is Georges Batroc. Hayley Atwell will reprise Peggy Carter, Toby Jones will play Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp stars as Agent 13 (Cap’s new love interest) and Maximiliano Hernández is Agent Jasper Sitwell.

The movie, steered by Anthony and Joe Russo, has commenced principal photography in Los Angeles, Calif., with production also including locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
