Leonardo DiCaprio boards Captain Planet movie

Paramount is in talks for the rights to 90s cartoon series “Captain Planet” with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions to produce.

According to THR, Jono Matt and Glen Powell are being eyed to write the script which will reportedly take place years after the adventures of the original show, with the Captain now a washed-up has-been who needs the kids more than they need him.

Should the deal come off, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and DiCaprio will produce along with Powell.

The original TV series, titled “Captain Planet and the Planeteers”, centered on five teenagers from around the world who can control the elements and work together to encourage environmentally responsible behaviour. Together they can summon Captain Planet to deal with ecological disasters.
