Behind the Candelabra

Dan Aykroyd, next in Summer comedy “The Campaign”, is joining the cast of the Liberace biopic. Michael Douglas plays the performer, with Matt Damon as lover Scott Thorson. The HBO films production, directed by Steven Soderbergh, will premiere on cable before being released at theatres. (Variety)

Cunning Little Vixen

“Piranha 3DD” scene-stealer Christopher Lloyd will join Shannon Elizabeth and Ann-Margret in the inspiring drama about a young singer who rises up against the odds to become a leading voice in a glorious opera. The picture shoots in Hungary.

Monster Butler

Evanna Lynch (“Harry Potter”) has joined the Malcolm McDowell starrer about bisexual jewel thief and con-artist Ray Fontaine, aka Archibald Hall. Fiona Carrick-Smith (Lynch) takes a liking to Fontaine, who encourages her to cancel her upcoming nuptials and do something more dangerous and exciting. (THR)

Scary Movie 5

Erica Ash, of “MadTV” fame, has joined the cast of Dimension’s fourth “Scary Movie” sequel. Ash joins Ashley Tisdale, announced yesterday as being one of the headline acts of the Malcolm Lee-directed comedy. Ash is playing a rival dancer to Tisdale in the picture. (Variety)

Transformers 4

Don’t expect any of the cast from the previous three “Transformers” movies to return for the next one. Director Michael Bay, while announcing that this one will definitely be his last, says the film will feature a completely new cast of characters. (Hero Complex)

Legendary : Tomb of the Dragon

“Expendables 2” co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins are reuniting for Eric Style’s supernatural actioner. The flick sees cryptozoologist Travis Preston travel to China to investigate a series of mysterious killings that might or might not involve a legendary beast. With the help of his team, including biologist Sarah Anderson, Travis must track down the beast in order to stop the killings. But he doesn’t just have the beast to deal with, because his bloodthirsty competitor is also on the hunt.

Prettyface

Lea Thompson (“J.Edgar”) is in talks to join Daveigh Chase (“Big Love”) and musician/actor Flea for writer/director Jennifer Janos’s drama about a young woman, growing up in the ’60s, who decides to steal a horse named Prettyface and ride it across America.

Shadows from the Sky

Aussies Bojana Novakovic (“Satisfaction”) and Clayton Watson (“The Matrix Reloaded”) are in talks to join Sean Bean in the airborne thriller about an incapacitated pilot.
