Shirley MacLaine is to play the title character in “Mother Goose”, a flick based on the legendary fairytale character.
The Michael Snyder written script “tells the tale of siblings Jack and Jill as they navigate Mother Goose’s magical kingdom. The brother and sister need to figure out three riddles that will allow them to return home and get ahold of a key held by Mother Goose herself.”
Though she’s never really stopped, MacLaine has ramped up her employment schedule in recent months, signing on to do a stint on TV’s “Downtown Abbey” as well as several new features. (Deadline)

Vince Vaughn is starring in a remake of French-Canadian flick “Starbuck”.
The film is about an immature middle-age man who discovers he has fathered over 530 children throughout the years through sperm donations. When 142 of his offspring file a class-action lawsuit to reveal their Dad’s identity, the man — known only as Starbuck on the donation forms — must decide whether he is going to become a real father.
Ken Scott, director of the original, returns to helm the remake.
Vaughn next appears in the comedy “The Watch”, with Ben Stiller and Jonah Hill. (Deadline)

Paula Patton (“Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol”) will star in a film adaptation of Montana Moore’s book. Directed by David Talbert, the pic “tells of flight attendant Montana Moore, who at 35 is the oldest woman in her family not married. With her sister tying the knot, Montana and her fellow flight attendants become determined to put a claim check on a husband in 30 days or 30,000 miles.” Flick lenses in September. (Deadline)

Mother-and-daughter team Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino will star in the ensemble drama about “12 sets of Mothers and daughters over the course of a single Mother’s Day”.
Sarandon and Martino, who last appeared together in 2005’s “The Banger Sisters”, are the first two actors cast. (Deadline)

Nicolas Cage, Juno Temple and Johnny Knoxville are starring in Jesse Baget’s road-trip action film about “a small-town Southern beauty queen (Temple) who is on the run from a ruthless killer (Cage) determined to retrieve diamonds he stole during a murderous heist. Lila Belle Clyde, who walks away with the loot, is a former beauty queen who wants to get away from New Orleans. To do that, she needs to elude authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self-described wolf determined to hunt her down and recover his swag.” (Deadline)

Nicole Kidman is reteaming with her “Rabbit Hole” scribe David Lindsay-Abaire for the film adaptation of the children’s book. Kidman stars in and produces the picture, which tells of “a couple of performance artists who routinely sucked their kids into taking part in a variety of bizarre events. When the full-grown children return home in a state of crisis, they are unwittingly enlisted to help in the execution of a daring and mysterious final performance by their parents, who are hellbent on achieving the act of a lifetime. Their kids harbor more than a little resentment and blame the performance art for how badly their own lives have turned out.” (Deadline)

Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”) will star in a trilogy of films based on South African novelist Deon Meyer’s literary trilogy. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Kellan Lutz (“Twilight”) have joined the cast of the John Stockwell-directed flick about ” suburban teens from Idaho who built a multimillion-dollar marijuana empire.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Clark Gregg, currently appearing as Agent Phil Coulson in “The Avengers”, is joining Jason Reitman’s latest film. The pic, starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin and James Van Der Beek, tells of “a boy (Gattlin Griffith) and his divorced mother (Kate Winslet) who meet a stranger (Josh Brolin) during a Labor Day weekend and offer him a ride. The man turns out to be an escaped convict and ends up teaching the boy life lessons.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Cameron Diaz has taken the role Angelina Jolie was eyeing in Ridley Scott’s film adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel.
The actress joins Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem in a film about an attorney offloading $20 million dollars worth of cocaine. (Twitch Film)
