CBS axes Braindead and American Gothic

CBS has canned both “BrainDead” and “American Gothic” after just one season each, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Of the three summer 216 dramas, only “Zoo” will return.

“BrainDead”, from Robert and Michelle King (“The Good Wife”), was a political horror satire starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Danny Pino. The series debuted to June under 5 million in June before finishing it’s run in September with half the viewers.

Also gone, “American Gothic” from executive producer Corinne Brinkerhoff and starring Juliet Rylance and Justin Chatwin. The family drama debuted to 3.4 million viewers before ending it’s run with numbers only slightly better than it’s fellow departee.
