CBS greenlights Beverly Hills Cop pilot

CBS has picked up the “Beverly Hills Cop” TV series, starring Brandon T.Jackson (“Tropic Thunder”) as Axel Foley’s detective son.

The Hollywood Reporter says the pilot, from Shawn Ryan and Eddie Murphy, will be penned by Ryan (“The Shield”), who will also executive produce along with his MiddKid Productions partner Marney Hochman and Murphy.

Cop is a follow-up to the Murphy franchise and centers on Foley’s son, Aaron (Jackson), a cop working in Beverly Hills as he does his part to escape his famous father’s shadow.

Murphy will reprise his role as Axel Foley, from the three “Beverly Hills Cop” films, in the pilot and throughout the series if it’s picked up.
