Channing Tatum is Marvel’s next superhero Gambit!

Rumored for eons, Channing Tatum has been confirmed as playing Gambit – the card-flinging mutant that Taylor Kitsch originated on screen in “X-Men Origins : Wolverine” – in the forthcoming Marvel superhero jaunt.

Tatum reportedly met with producer Lauren Schuler Donner (“X-Men”) in April to discuss the possibility of the “21 Jump Street” star making the transition into comic book movie-ville. And it’s a discussion that’s seemingly resulted in a signature on a dotted line.

Total Film asked Donner, at the premiere for “X-Men : Days of Future Past”, why she went with stripper cum actor Tatum.

“Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”

There’s a possibility Gambit will be reintroduced to moviegoers in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men : Apocalypse” but safest bet is that we’ll see a Tatum-headlined “Gambit : The Movie” in a couple of years’ time.
