Screen Gems’ English-language remake of Gareth Evans’ “The Raid” looks to inching ahead, with Aussie Patrick Hughes (“Red Hill”, “The Expendables 3”) tapped to direct and Hughes’ fellow countrymen Chris and Liam Hemsworth tipped to star.
Variety has the news on Hughes’ directing, while The Wrap says the studio wants the Hemsworth brothers to star.
“The Raid” told of an elite Indonesian S.W.A.T. team that raids a building where a gangster and his thugs are embedded and chaos ensues. Assumingly, Chris (“Thor”) and Liam (“The Hunger Games”) would play members of the S.W.A.T team.
Brad Inglesby (“Out of the Furnace”) wrote the screenplay for the U.S adaptation.
