Cliff Curtis joins the Blue Man Group

In news likely to interest the small handful of folks keen on seeing one of the forever-in-development “Avatar” sequels – of which James Cameron is said to be planning as many as 53 – New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis will have a role.

The New Zealander, whose many credits include “The Piano”, “Live Free or Die Hard” and “Training Day”, plays “Tonowari, who is the leader of the Metkayina, the reef people clan.

The next film/s take place in some sort of underwater village, so that makes sense.

Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver return for the first of four sequels, due to go into production next year.

“Avatar 2” is due out December 18, 2010. At which stage theaters won’t even exist and therefore we’ll be all watching the greatest special effects spectacle of all time on a tiny mobile phone screen.
