Attended the “Spider-Man 2” Premiere last night…..the film absolutely rocks. On par, if not better than the first film, Raimi has crafted a fun, comprehensive, far-reaching, faithful adaptation. It’s got everything. It’s refreshing to know that there are filmmakers out there who still know what an audience want went they hand over the green for a couple of cinema tickets and secondly, that sequels don’t always have to suck. The full review will be up shortly. Meantime, go pre-book some tickets to this baby.

  • Freeze Dried Movies has three images from Lions Gate’s “Saw” up.

  • SneakPeek.CA says "Fade Out", written/directed by Michael Christofer, will begin a 10-week Halifax shoot starting July 19, according to producer Bernie "Daredevil" Williams. The film will star Billy Bob Thornton. The female lead has been recast as co-star Kate Beckinsale has dropped out.

  • According to Coming Soon, Gary Oldman is in talks to voice a character in “Star Wars Episode III”. General Grievous perhaps?

  • Nicolette Sheridan stars in the thriller "Transplant", shooting June 21 to July 10 in Vancouver for PorchLight Entertainment. Premise focuses on a woman who receives an eye transplant, only to suffer post-operative ‘visions’ from the previous owner, according to SneakPeek.CA.

  • The Patrrick Swayze / Lisa Neimi dance flick “Without a Word” has undergone a name change to “One Last Dance”.

  • SneakPeek.CA says Nicole Eggert and Marc Singer have been cast in the Shavick/Insight action thriller "Snowman’s Pass", currently filming in Whistler, British Columbia. Singer will next film the "V: The Next Generation".

  • Director Richard Martini just wrapped “My Bollywood Bride” starring Jason Lewis of “Sex and the City” fame. It was an 8-week shoot in India.

  • MediaSharx is reporting that the forthcoming “Babylon 5” movie may indeed be a theatrical release.

  • The MPAA has upheld the R Rating for “Fahrenheit 9/11”.

  • Burt Reynolds and Juliette Lewis have signed and are in talks, respectively, to join the new Ray Romano / Kevin James comedy “Grilled”.

  • Chris Carmack [Luke from “The OC”] is in talks to star opposite Amanda Bynes in the romantic comedy “Lovewrecked”.

  • Bloody Disgusting has revealed the official logo for Rob Zombie’s “The Devils Rejects” as well as a set report here

  • According to Cinescape, the “Batman Begins” trailer will not be attached to “Spider-Man 2”. It’s more likely to appear with “I Robot” now.

  • Columbia Pictures has bought the pitch “Ghost Story” from writers Jon Felson and Rusty Gorman. The film concerns the 11-year-old son of a newly installed president, who discovers a ghost in the White House, but no one believes him.

  • Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have cancelled their Australian promo tour for “New York Minute”. Mary-Kate’s getting treatment for an eating disorder and her sister has decided to stay behind for support.

  • Universal has acquired rights to the Zoey Dean novel “The A-List”, and the studio has set screenwriters Pam Falk and Mike Ellis to pen the adaptation. The story follows the cultural adjustment of a 17-year-old girl who leaves Manhattan for a senior year with the monied kids of Beverly Hills High. Dean has turned the novel into an ongoing series.

  • BTTF.com has a nice report from the DeLorean Car Show that may interest “Back to the Future” fans.

  • The Sunday issue of the San Francisco Chronicle ran an interview with Catherine Zeta-Jones in which she (briefly) mentions that she and Antonio Banderas are in pre-prod. for the "Zorro" sequel, quote: "I’ve just had my first costume fitting, so it’s back in the old corset.   • Zach Snyder has signed to take the helm of Warner Bros.’ “300”, an adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel about the legendary Battle of Thermopylae and the origins of democracy. Set in the midst of the Persian-Greco war, the project revolves around the Battle of Thermopylae, where Spartan king Leonidas led his army of 300 soldiers into battle against the invading Persian army. According to legend, their valor and sacrifice inspired all of Greece to unite against their Persian foe, leading to the origins of democracy.

  • Tom Arnold’s screenplay “The Kid & I” gets the flick treatment this week in Los Angeles with Arnold starring alongside Shannon Elizabeth, Linda Hamilton and Joe Mantegna. The independent project stars newcomer Eric Gores as Aaron Roman, a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy who dreams of being in an action movie. His wealthy entrepreneur father (Mantegna) tells Aaron he can have anything he wants for his 18th birthday, only to have to hustle to get the movie made.

  • Heath Baby has some set photos from “Brokeback Mountain” largely featuring Heath Ledger.

  • According to Dark Horizons, Elisha Cuthbert has confirmed that Kiefer Sutherland will be the only original star from “24” to return on a permanent basis next year. All others are recurring.

  • Gwyneth Paltrow is interested in making a film about reality TV phenomenon “Big Brother” and apparently she’s talked to Steven Spielberg about helming it.

  • Burt Reynolds met with producers of a planned “Smokey and the Bandit 4” on the set of “The Longest Yard” this month hoping to coax him into playing ‘The Bandit’ again.

  • Paramount and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura have hired Michael Tolkin to adapt “Paranoia”, Joseph Finder’s tale of corporate espionage. The story is about a lazy but bright young executive fingered for corporate malfeasance and ordered to infiltrate a high-tech rival, where the executive becomes a rising star and seeks to break the bonds with his former company.

  • UIP’s release schedule for Australia has the “Firefly” feature film “Serenity” opening in April next year.

  • New Pictures from “Danny the Dog” starring Jet Li are up at lashorasperdidas

  • Talking to About.Com, Director Sam Raimi said The Lizard [Curt Connors, played by Dylan Baker in “Spider-Man 2”] probably won’t appear in “Spider-Man 3”, but more likely “Spider-Man 4”.

  • According to The Herald Sun, Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless will make cameo appearances in the proposed “Cagney and Lacey” movie. Sharon Stone and Demi Moore are tipped to play the leads.

  • IGNFilmForce asked Jackie Chan what the status of “Rush Hour 3” is and he confirmed rumours that it may be set in Hawaii. “Some want to shoot in Hawaii and Chris Tucker, ‘Why not Asia, Bangkok, Japan?’ I just had a meeting. I said, ‘Look, Bangkok is very cheap, yes.’ But the location, I think Rush Hour 3 should look like a big city, open, like Hawaii. For Chris Tucker, it’s old. There’s so many films filmed in Hawaii. He’s more interested in Bangkok. I said Japan is very expensive. The script is already there, now we [need to] pick out the location.”
