Cody Walker joins Nicolas Cage in USS Indianapolis

Cody Walker has been cast in his first significant film role after helping Universal finish shooting “Furious 7” following the death of the his late brother Paul Walker.

Cody Walker has nabbed the major supporting role opposite Nicolas Cage in “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage”.

Mario Van Peebles is directing the film about Captain Charles McVay (Cage), the commander whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. The crewmen who didn’t die in the initial blast were forced to wait four days for rescue, most dying of dehydration, saltwater poisoning and shark attacks. Only 317 men of the 1196 on board survived the attack.

Walker plays one of the Navvy soldiers. Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane, Matt Lanter and Brian Presley co-star.

Cam Cannon and Rionda Del Castro wrote the screenplay.

“USS Indianapolis” is due for release on the 2016 Memorial Day weekend.
