Comic Book Movie News – Thor 2, Man of Steel, Iron Man 3

Thor 2

“Saving Private Ryan” scribe Robert Rodat is rewriting Don Payne’s draft. Sounds like Alan Taylor, the film’s newly appointed director, wanted some changes and brought in one of the best to make them. The 2013 release will see Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprising their roles as Mr and Mrs Hammer. (Deadline)

Iron Man 3

Robert Downey Jr says the next in the series, which will be helmed by his “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” director Shane Black, could be one of the best superhero movies to date. The man behind Tony Stark’s six-pack told Omelete, “I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made. But I think we have to remember what made the first one good. It was very character-driven. It was very odd. It was kind of outrageous. And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.”

Man of Steel 2

Can they really be that confident that “Man of Steel” is going to be the biggish hit they’d like it to be? Surely not; look what happened last time Warner rebooted ‘Superman’ – nobody much cared! Still,a rumour has emerged that has a location scout is already underway for a sequel. A Facebook post reads, “Word is that there is a sequel is already in the works. Crews checking site in Yorkville IL where the Kent house was/is and Plano Il / AKA Smallville for next film…shhhh they tell me. Oops”

Superman Lives

Wanna view some concept art for toys that would’ve been released had Tim Burton’s “Superman Lives” – the one with Nicolas Cage in the ‘black’ Superman suit – come to fruition? Click here and you’ll be able to squiz shots of Superman’s different suits, Brainiac’s ship and even some teaser posters for the film. Was it ever official that Jack Nicholson was going to play Lex Luthor in that movie, or was that just a rumour?

Smallville

Yes, it’s finished – – well, for most people; Australians will get to see Clark’s transformation into Superman when “Smallville : The Final Season” hits DVD and Blu-ray in April. I think Clint said the finale was fun but didn’t offer nearly enough Superman – due to a rights issue, or something?
