Constantine movie a go for 2016

Well, sorta.

Bigshot producer Scott Rudin (“Steve Jobs”) has reportedly come onboard to help steer the long-gestating comic book flick “Justice League Dark” aka “Dark Justice” towards the starting line, according to The Tracking Board. Filming is due to commence in 2016.
The film is based on the DC Comics title of the same name which sees such characters as John Constantine (TV’s Constantine Matt Ryan will not be reprising the role), Deadman and Swamp Thing teaming up.

Constantine will be back.

Guillermo Del Toro was previously attached to the project; while the “Crimson Peak” director remains on as a producer, Warners is scouting for a new scribe and helmer.

The site says the film’s plot reportedly “involves a series of ancient tomes stolen by a madman hellbent on the destruction of humanity. When he learns of this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialize in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world. Though the film’s heroes have not yet been announced, save for Constantine, Del Toro had mentioned that Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan The Demon will likely make up the team.”

“Dark Universe” won’t share any ties with DC’s other superhero team-up movie “Justice League” – not at this stage, anyway.
