Dakota Fanning (who someone pointed out recently will probably end up looking quite a bit like Brittany Murphy when she’s in her twenties) has signed on the dotted line to appear in Steven Spielberg’s "War of the Worlds".
Fanning worked on the Spielberg series "Taken" and is also set to star in the directors proposed "Alice in Wonderland" film series.
The deal continues a streak of projects for the actress, says The Hollywood Reporter. She is prepping for her role opposite Kurt Russell in DreamWorks’ "Dreamer" for helmer John Gatins, and she is attached to play Alice in live action adaptations of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass," which Les Bohem is scripting for DreamWorks.
