Daniel Radcliffe going all Black Rain for Tokyo Vice

Determined to shake off ‘Hogwarts grad’, Daniel Radcliffe will follow up his un-Potter like turns in “Woman in Black” and the upcoming “Horns” (man, that looks odd!) with “Tokyo Vice”, a thriller from Anthony Mandler that sounds more “Black Rain” than “Goblet of Fire”.

Deadline says JT Roger’s script fixes on “American reporter Jake Adelstein who, while working at the Yomiuri Shinbun newspaper in Tokyo, covered the crime beat and locked horns with yakuza boss Tadamasa Goto, called the “John Gotti of Japan. ”

The flick, one of three of our decent offerings Radcliffe has in the works, is based on Adelstein’s memoir detailing how the journalist’s investigating and finally exposing the notorious gangster exacted a high personal cost and sacrifice which included death threats. The reporter is still active, writing for everyone from The Daily Beast to the Japan Times.

“Tokyo Vice” begins shooting early 2014.
