DCs Metal Men coming to the big screen

Lauren Schuler-Donner producing

I’ve got to be totally honest, I have never heard of “Metal Men”. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, even The Shadow… but Metal Men? Nup, can’t say I’m too familiar.

Whatever the case, Lauren Schuler Donner (“X-Men”) thinks it’s a comic book worth making a movie out of, so she’s made the deal with DC to do just that.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that the comic is “Based on a DC Comics hero created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1962” and that it “revolves around a brilliant scientist, William Magnus, and his creations: six highly advanced robots who have powers associated with their respective metals — gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury and platinum. Instead of having to be programd, the Metal Men can think for themselves, which is both their genius and their biggest flaw.”

Donner did a terrific job bringing “X-Men” and “Constantine” to the big screen so I’m sure this – despite the fact that I’m about as familiar with the property as I am the next door neighbour’s table setting – will be just as impressive… and fun.
