“Juno” scribe Diablo Cody is re-writing – get this! – Sony’s live-action “Barbie” movie.
Cody replaces Jenny Bicks (“The Big C”) who did a first draft of the Mattel toy-inspired feature for the studio and producers Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes.
”Diablo’s unconventionality is just what Barbie needs…It signals we’re going for a legitimately contemporary tone”, Parkes said. “We’re bringing her on because she had great ideas, but even more importantly, she truly loves Barbie.”
The studio is – well, duh – planning on spinning a franchise off of the idea.
