Die Hard 6 to be The Godfather Part II of the series!?

It was announced a wee bit ago that the next “Die Hard” movie – yep, after “A Good Day to Die Hard” you’d have thought there’d be nothing left to destroy about the once ironically funktastic series!? – would be set in John McClane’s younger years, thus requiring Bruce Willis to merely play some sort of narrator – a bookend appearance along the lines of that Old Indy appearance on the old “Young Indiana Jones” show.

Speaking at Fox’s TCA upfronts this week, where he’s promoting the upcoming series “Lucifer”, director Len Wiseman (who previously directed “Live Free or Die Hard”) explained that the movie will actually make better use of Bruce Willis than it sounds. Apparently the film’s structure will be akin to “The Godfather Part II”, with events swinging back between the past and present.

“He will be more present than that”, Wiseman (via /Film) said of Willis possibly only making a cameo appearance in “Die Hard : Year One”. “This character of course is modern day and the origin story if you can call it that has ramifications on present day McClane. What it’s not is it’s not a cameo bookend scenario. It’s a prequel/sequel hybrid that I really haven’t seen before and is incredibly different.”

By the sounds, an incident or crook from McClane’s early days comes back to haunt him – or stalk him – later on in life. Hopefully by including Holly in those past scenes, they’ve also recognized the importance of including her in the present day moments – Bonnie Bedelia is the bomb, get her back!
