Director Lee Daniels has bowed out of The Weinstein Co’s Richard Pryor biopic.
According to THR, Daniels exited the project due to scheduling conflicts, as The Weinstein Co “declined to wait further for Daniels’ schedule to clear up”.
Production on the project was set to begin in March but was delayed in part due to Daniels’ busy schedule. An October date was then set and when Daniels (reportedly) asked for a further delay, The Weinstein Co wasn’t willing to wait.
Daniels is an exec producer on Fox’s “Empire” as well as being involved in another Fox project, “Star”.
