Umbra

Martin Campbell (“Green Lantern”) is directing the conspiracy thriller “Umbra”, following Joe Carnahan’s departure. In addition, Paul Haggis has been bought onboard to rewrite the script for the film which tells of “a business man who gets a mysterious package in the mail and gets caught up in a government conspiracy.” (Deadline)

Matterhorn

Brian Beltic will direct Jason Dean Hall’s script based on the Disneyland theme park ride. The film, which marks Beltic’s directorial debut, tells of “A small group of young, super adventure/explorers, each with a specific skill set, are brought to the remote backcountry of the Pennine Alps under various guises for a trek across one of the planet’s remaining untouched realms. They do this with extreme skiing, snowboarding and mountaineering.” (Deadline)

Maleficent

Robert Stromberg, a production designer on Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, will direct the “Sleeping Beauty” spin-off. Angelina Jolie is set to play the evil Maleficent. (Deadline)

Paris

The Canadian thriller has tapped Paul Haggis (“Crash”) its director. Canadian screenwriter Dawn Kuisma of Blaze Productions is penning the script for the film, said to be a political drama. (The Hollywood Reporter)
