Disney Channel developing Mo’ne Davis biopic

The Disney Channel is making a movie about 13-year-old baseballer Mo’ne Davis, the first ever girl to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series.

The biopic, titled “Throw Like Mo”, will  be written by Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson.

Davis’ was one of two girls who played in the 2014 Little League World Series. She’s the first girl to earn a win and to pitch a shutout in the history of the competition, and was the sixth to get a hit. As the 18th girl overall to play, Davis was the first African-American girl involved.

“A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me,” said Davis. “I can’t wait to get started, and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true”.

“Mo’ne is not only a topnotch athlete in three different sports — baseball, basketball and soccer — but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves,” said Naketha Mattocks, VP of original movies for Disney Channels.
